"Art causes us to see things in a different way... to go beyond the obvious. It takes us to places we might never have imagined. Strange symbolic places with figures that evoke a memory of something from our culture. Do we even notice the video cameras watching us as we shop, bank, or drive in traffic?

"Not everything is revealed in my paintings; therefore I work in layers, often collaging elements onto the surface. Sometimes I might paint over the collage, but it affects the outcome of the painting. Thanks to MTV, we now see "faster" than before. I use writing in my paintings to slow the eye of the viewer.

"I am represented by the Bennett Gallery in Knoxville and the Blue Spiral 1 Gallery in Asheville, N.C."
