Linda Saliba, Artist Member

"Paper is a very durable medium although it looks transitory. I like the paradoxical quality of it. With books and new designs readily available, the technique of folding paper has become very popular in the past ten years among engineers and mathematicians . To my knowledge, visual artists have not yet begun to tap origami as an inspiration for their creative endeavors. I have spent the past ten years perfecting my knowledge of origami and experimenting with ways to showcase it in an aesthetic and permanent setting using the materials and methods of the visual artist.

During my college years at Sophie Newcomb College, Tulane University, I studied art history, what was then called "primitive art", and art fundamentals. My college work was followed by several years of studio work under the tutelage of George Chavatel at Emory and Henry College.

I have exhibited in locally sponsored art contests, at the Starving Artist Cafe, Emory and Henry College, The Bristol Art Guild Gallery and various locations in Abingdon and Bristol. I belong to the Bristol Art Guild and the Depot Artists Association. My work is represented in several private collections."
